Adopt-a-Highway Clean Up Postponed!

RESCHEDULED DATE:  Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2 pm

WHERE:  Meet at the empty gravel lot next to the Bridge End gas station located on the Virginia side of the Potomac River bridge.

Due to rain forecast for the originally scheduled clean up date of Sunday, December 10, we are postponing to January.

The routine and the route are the same we have every year:  Please join us for the annual “Fall” clean up of our VDOT approved route along the Berlin Turnpike, from Purcell Road to the Potomac River Bridge.

Bags, vests and gloves will be provided.  VDOT signage will be posted to alert drivers.

Since 2013, the Co-op has collected 321 bags of trash and recycled items along our adopted route.  A huge shout out goes to Laura Long Lieberman who started this program and has worked tirelessly to maintain its annual clean up over the years.

Suggested dress includes:  long pants, work/sturdy shoes or boots, hats and outer wear appropriate for the weather.

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to safety concerns, volunteers must be age 16 and older.
